FINE ART & EDITORIAL PORTRAITURE

Great portraiture is not an accident; it is an intentional AND CURATED piece of art.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Should I choose an in-studio session or an on-location outdoor session?

It depends entirely on your visual goal. Studio Soursop offers climate control, zero weather variables, and a variety of studio equipment for fine-art and clean editorial looks. On-location shoots incorporate Barbados’ natural environment, coastal cliffs, or architecture, best suited for dynamic environmental storytelling.

How do you handle bad weather or harsh sun for outdoor shoots?

We schedule on-location shoots during early morning or late afternoon golden hours to maximize flattering natural light, and we bring high-powered mobile battery strobes to cleanly overpower harsh midday sun when needed. If severe tropical rain impacts your shoot date, we either transition your session into Studio Soursop or reschedule without penalty.

I’m not a model and feel awkward having my picture taken. Can you help?

Most people we work with are founders, business owners, and everyday individuals who do not model for a living. It is our job to make you feel comfortable and guide your posture, hands, and expressions so you look natural and confident.

Can a boutique brand book this for a lookbook or to shoot a brand ambassador?

Yes. Our Brand & Editorial Story tier is built specifically for boutique lookbooks, product styling on talent, or featuring a notable local individual representing your brand. We compose frames to accommodate website banners, social storytelling, and lookbook spreads.

How does payment work?

We work exclusively via direct local bank transfer (CIBC FirstCaribbean, Republic Bank, Scotiabank, etc.). A 50% deposit secures your shoot date and time, with the remaining 50% balance due on the day of production.

What should I wear for my session?

Muted solid tones (charcoals, warm creams, earth tones, olive, deep navy) and rich textures (linen, knitwear, tailored cotton, leather, denim) photograph with great depth under studio lighting. We recommend bringing a few options on hangers, and we will help you curate the final looks in the dressing room.

Can I purchase additional photos after the shoot?

Yes. When you review your private proofing gallery, you can add extra retouched files beyond your package allotment for $50 BBD per image.
